Easterseals Partners with Newtown Police Department

Easterseals Driver Assessment Program is partnering with the Newtown Police Department and Newtown Public Schools to host a mock traffic stop for neurodiverse students.

The program provides training for officers performing traffic stops on individuals who are neurodiverse as well as educating the neurodiverse students on what to expect if they are involved in a traffic stop.

The driver assessment program has also hosted “car fit” events in Newtown that benefit older drivers. The event is designed to ensure that older drivers are safely and comfortable using their vehicles – allowing them to maintain their independence.

In addition to Newtown, the Driver Assessment Program is also working with the Meriden Fire Department and Police Departments in Meriden and East Windsor.
