The CDRS also has a medical background to be able to understand the diagnosis of the client and how that diagnosis could affect the client’s driving in the future. The CDRS can assist the physician to ensure that the client and other people on the road remain safe.
Why is it important to follow through on recommendations made after a driver assessment?
When a client is referred for a driver assessment, it is typically due to concerns that the physician and/or the family have. If it is recommended that a client no longer drive and the client continues to drive and gets into an accident, the patient and other people on the road are being placed at risk.
